ADM

The short and long of it...

A serendipitous 2018 meeting of next door neighbors in a Bethesda, Md. high-rise resulted in the formation of the band ADM, the duo of Dmitriy Advolodkin and Eric Long. Early jams saw the pair immediately creating tasty original music. It’s a bit of a strange brew considering each’s age and musical reference points.

The younger of the two, Advolodkin, prefers an acoustic guitar, a glass of red wine, and a pop song that is played on the heart strings. He cites Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Akon, and the Biebs as his musical tonal centers. The elder Long, on the other hand, regards the electric guitar and all of it’s noisy atmospherics as his sound of choice. His inspiration is derived from classics like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Brian Eno. Somehow the two varying styles pair well, like whiskey aged in American wooden oak wine casks.

Advolodkin is ADM’s lead vocalist. Long plays all the instruments and handles the recordings at his Waterford Studio in Myrtle Beach, SC. Typically a song’s creation evolves from the duo’s acoustic rehearsals. There, partially developed ideas spark melodious inspirations. As with all songwriting, some ideas require little fermentation while others need further vinification.

What does ADM stand for? Answering that query can be fun for the whole fan family. Is it Astronauts Deliver Mail? Angry Dramatic Moments? A Dumb Monkey? Insert your choice here. When considering the schism in ages and musical tastes ADM does seem like an unlikely drink. But take an ear sip. It’s intoxicating. Perhaps then, the acronym ADM is simply...Age Doesn’t Matter.

ADM’s debut album “Cocktail Talk” was released May 30, 2023. The record contains eleven songs. Themes range from love and loss to friendship and social commentary. All music is by Advolodkin/Long except two numbers where fellow musician Tom Yoder adds an orchestral arrangement and piano from his Pa. Pokey Ranch Studio. Lead vocals were recorded by Mike Harvey at Actiondale Studio in Virginia. The music was produced and mixed by Eric Long and mastered by Sam Rees. Album cover art was created and photographed by Michael Slear. The Advolodkin/Long black and white image was created by Dmitriy Advolodkin.
